Birth Support
-
A complimentary consultation where we will get together to discuss your pregnancy so far, your thoughts, worries, and goals for your birth, and how doula support works. This is a great time to get to know each other to see if we are a good fit for each other.
Open communication via phone, text, and email from the moment support begins, until 6 weeks postpartum.
2 prenatal visits lasting 1-2 hours each to discuss your needs & desires for birth, provide useful tools for labour and birth, we will create or go over your birth preferences list, discuss newborn care and postpartum planning, and more! I want to ensure that you feel prepared physically, mentally, and emotionally birth your birth and postpartum journey.
Partners are not left out in this! If you have a partner/support person, I will help them work through fears or apprehensions, facilitate conversations between the two of you, educate them on how they can provide you with support during birth and postpartum, and more.
You will also be provided with community resources, access to my lending library, electronic handouts, and a complimentary birth support card deck!
-
I will provide you with on-call 24/7 support from 38 weeks gestation until the birth of your little one.
During early labour, I will provide you with guidance and tips virtually.
Once you are in active labour and ready for me to support you in-person, I will help to create a calm birthing environment with lighting and other goodies in my doula bag (during one of our prenatal appointments, we will go through my bag and see what you want included, and what you would like to pass on).
Continuous in-person support during active labour including assistance with comfort measures, relaxation techniques, breathing, positive affirmations, and informational support.
Emotional and physical support for your partner. It is easy to forget to hydrate or eat while you are a support person! I will be there to help with that along with helping them better support YOU.
I recognize that after you have a baby, labour and birth becomes a complete BLUR. Knowing this, I will be providing you with a written birth timeline with notes and events during labour and baby’s birth.
If desired, I can take photographs during labour, birth, and immediately postpartum. However, at this time they will be not be taken on a professional camera.
-
Once your little babe is earthside, I will remain by your side and provide support for 1-3 hours. This support will include things like assistance with nursing if that is something that you are planning to do, parent and infant bonding, etc. However, I will be mindful of your space and will leave at any time upon your request.
-
One in-person postpartum visit to check in, debrief your birth, answer any questions, and offer resources. This visit generally lasts 1-2 hours and is scheduled at your request.
-
Once I arrive at your home, I will be asking you what YOU need support with. Then we can go from there! Some examples of support are:
Debriefing your birth experience and talking about any questions or concerns that you may have.
I will provide infant sleep support and guidance while also assisting with infant care.
Postpartum recovery support.
Support and guidance with breastfeeding/chestfeeding, formula feeding, etc.
If desired, I can do light housekeeping, dishes, laundry, and food preparation so you can focus on you and your baby.
Help with parent and infant bonding.
Assist with older children (you must still be in the home).
Have some errands to run such as grocery shopping and/or picking up supplies? Let me do that for you!
Need to do some in-home self care or have a nap? I can watch baby while you do that!
I can also just be present for you and hold space. I am someone that you can chat with, vent to, or even just sit in silence with. Whatever YOU need during this time, let's do it.
